Safer communities.
Stronger economies.

Justice Action Network Foundation (JANF) is a national bipartisan 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to improving our criminal justice system and public safety outcomes at the state and federal levels.

Our focus is building durable movements for continued reform.

We identify viable, bipartisan policy reform opportunities by seeking input from lawmakers on both sides of the aisle, local advocacy groups, policy experts, system practitioners, law enforcement, business groups and associations, and directly impacted people.

We provide education on best practices and convene and coordinate all relevant voices to bring about reform that is achievable and impactful. Through this work, we provide the educational foundation and infrastructure for meaningful and sustainable criminal justice policy change to occur in states and in Congress year after year.

In partnership with JANF, JAN’s January 2025 report State Level Criminal Justice Reform: Bipartisan Policies with Support and Momentum shines a light on actionable policies, with bipartisan support, that will make the criminal justice system more safe, accountable, and fair. The door for reform is wide open, and we hope that this report serves as a resource for identifying policies that can pass in state legislatures today.
